What is Dock?

Dock incorporates standards from the industry-leading World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and VCDM standards facilitating interoperability with other open source technologies. It’s also open source and uses permissive, developer-friendly licenses. Read more in the article What is the Dock Network and why it can be useful

What are validators?

The Dock network uses the Nominated Proof of Stake algorithm, which automatically selects up to 50 validators to participate concurrently based on the amount of Dock staked. Token holders can back validators by staking additional tokens to help validators be selected to participate in each era, which is 12 hours on the Dock network.

  1. Candidate validators publicize their candidacy on the Dock blockchain.
  2. Tokens are staked in support of candidates, by candidates themselves or by nominators.
  3. Nomination period ends.
  4. Candidates with the largest stakes are automatically selected as validators.
  5. Validators produce and validate blocks on Dock mainnet.
  6. Validators and nominators are rewarded with Dock tokens.
