Initial KLAY Tokenomics

• The total supply of KLAY, including the amount issued during the TGE at the Klaytn mainnet launch and the amount generated from block rewards, is ≈11 B KLAY. About 3 B KLAY has been in circulation prior to [KGP-6] proposal implementation.
• Emissions have been reduced to 6.4 KLAY per block, totaling approximately 200 M KLAY annually.

Klaytn Tokenomics Optimization (2023)

[KGP-6] Proposal has passed the governance voting on Feb 28, 2023. 26 of 31 GC members participated in the proposal, and 100% voted to pass the proposal.

The result:

• The Foundation looks to burn 5.28 B KLAY of the supply that has not been used (scheduled for early Q2'2023);
• An additional 2 B KLAY will be burned in 3 years if no use case is found;
• KGF & KIR to become Community Fund (KCF) & Foundation Fund (KFF);
• An allocation of 0.197B KLAY to GroundX;
• A rebalancing of the remaining Token Generation Reserve, KGF and KIR funds into 3 new funds – Klaytn Community Fund (KCF), Klaytn Foundation Fund (KFF) and Klaytn Value Creation Reserve (KVC). Learn how to check on the status of treasury rebalancing.

KLAY is the main internal transferable cryptocurrency of Klaytn and is used to pay transaction fees when creating or executing smart contracts or when transferring KLAY. Also currency unit of KLAY and 1 KLAY is 10^18 peb.

peb is the smallest currency unit of KLAY.

Klaystation is a staking tool built on the Klaytn Network. KLAY holders are invited to stake with Klaytn's GC providers using Klaystation with an average APR of 7-9%. To start staking, open Klaystation in your browser and install a compatible wallet into your browser – Kaikas Wallet or Klip Wallet.

• Kaikas, a browser extension wallet. KLAY staking is available via Klaystation. As an HD wallet, Kaikas allows you to create more than one account with a single master seed phrase. Kaikas supports various types of Klaytn networks, and enables you to register your own customized tokens within the wallet. Kaikas also allows you to sign requests from Klaytn-based web BApps (Blockchain Applications).
• Klip, a digital wallet developed by Kakao Corp is available for iOS/Android (available in Korean only). KLAY staking is available via Klaystation. Users can create a new wallet in minutes using KakaoTalk.

• KLAY Tool for transferring KLAY tokens/rewards.
• CLI tools like ken and JavaScript console.
• MetaMask: the KSP staking is available on Klayswap only.
• Klaytn Wallet is for development purpose only. Do not use it for personal or commercial use. Klaytn recommends that you use Klaytn Wallet on the Baobab Testnet for TESTING ONLY, and NOT for any other purpose.

1. Unstake easily via the Klaystation platform using KaiKas or Klip wallet (Metamask is not supported yet)
2. More complexed way: use Klaytnscope explorer to unstake (from Total Amount Staked which is a sum of rewards and staked KLAY). Read the quick Guide.

Unstaking takes ≈ 7 days. Users can track their transaction status in the History section. Once unstaking is completed, the KLAY will become available for transfer or restaking.
