What is PoL?
+Proof-of-Liquidity (PoL) is an innovative consensus mechanism that is build upon the main PoS concept of securing a chain by staking native tokens, but on on top of it, PoL adds additional soulbound governance tokens that determine a staker's potential reward weight and reward those providing liquidity to the chain via governed reward vaults.
This approach separates the roles of the gas and security token from the governance token used for reward allocation. In Berachain's system, the native gas and staking token is $BERA, while the non-transferrable governance token, $BGT (Bera Governance Token), serves the function of economic incentives. Berachain tokens
+Berachain's consensus model is based on the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) framework and consists of two key components:
$BERA – Validators secure the chain by staking the native gas token - BERA.
$BGT – A soulbound governance token, distributed by validators for proposing new blocks, and ultimately rewarded to users who provide liquidity to the ecosystem.
