Takeaways

The oracles of Greece and the goddesses of Rome were women appointed by the divinities to convey celestial wisdom through them. They were prominent across the ancient empires, and pilgrims would travel long distances merely to address a question and pursue a god’s response.

Although many tales indicate their prophecies were fulfilled, this is somewhat exaggerated. They were not omniscient, and many writings failed to reveal the oracles’ and goddesses’ blunders. They were not unimpeachable, but they remained a crucial component of Greek and Roman faith.

Unlike mythological oracles, their blockchain analogs are far closer to perfection. Nowadays, oracles in the domain of Web3 are data-driven and protected by cryptographic primitives that optimize transparency and provable safety.

Both modern and ancient oracles serve an identical objective: they transmit crucial knowledge to individuals unable to obtain it on their own. Before we go into Pyth Network remedies, first, let’s identify what an oracle is.

What are Oracles?

Oracles are parties that perform as gateways between blockchain networks and external data sources. Since smart contracts do not execute these actions independently, oracles depend on web-based APIs or other external sources for new data.

Blockchains keep public records of the transaction history. New transactions are confirmed in batches or blocks, using a variety of consensus mechanisms employed by their node operators, and smart contracts allow for seamless, trustless transaction execution.

Many oracles are decentralized. They do not rely on a single source of data. Instead, they let everyone contribute and empower users with data. These information providers, sometimes known as “reporter nodes,” get data from other sources, such as aggregators that have copied or got their data elsewhere.

Nonetheless, decentralized oracles add another degree of complication to this ecosystem by permitting new types of composite smart contracts that use off-chain data as inputs to ‘know’ when to execute. Oracles, therefore, promote compatibility between smart contracts and the real world and the outdated networks that comprise global financial markets.

Pyth Network Solution

Pyth is a publisher of oracle networks that encourages its users to be data providers. For instance, trading platforms will provide information directly to the Pyth network. Consider having simply one Pythia who connects directly with the gods.

There are several key reasons why developers prefer to create and build with Pyth. First, the data quality and speeds are unrivaled; features are unique while powerful for innovation & security as well as transparency and open-source code.

Key advantages and principles:

  • Data feeds for FX, stocks, crypto, commodities, and more from world-class publishers and institutional-grade data sources.
  • Pyth’s data publishers are top-notch market participants, including exchanges, market makers, and financial service providers.
  • The information provided by Pyth’s publishers is not publicly available elsewhere!
  • Unwavering quality and dependability principles: Data Staking is obtained only from publishers. Feed stability requires a minimum publisher rule.

Delegators can generate data fees by staking tokens. The delegators collectively determine each publisher’s impact on the cumulative value. This framework defines whether delegators’ stakes are reduced.

The system collects customer data fees and sends a portion to delegators. The remaining is put into a reward pool and given to publishers as incentives.

Takeaways

For the foreseeable future, a genuinely decentralized oracle solution that distributes real-world data on-chain and at sub-second timescales is required for the crypto industry to thrive (previously inaccessible on- or off-chain).

The Pyth Network is concentrated on distributing data straight from the source without the need for intermediates. That is what a publisher network entails.

An on-chain Oracle that transmits more complete data faster and with more certainty to the entire world. We are eager to introduce and build further with Pyth Network.
