The Babylon network has officially entered Phase 2 with the launch of its Genesis Proof-of-Stake (PoS) chain. This marks a major evolution in Babylon’s vision: using Bitcoin’s economic weight to secure a next-generation staking ecosystem. BTC stakers from previous phases now serve as finality providers for the Babylon PoS chain, playing a key role in cross-chain security and timestamping.

How to stake BTC
To stake BTC and earn rewards in BABY tokens, you’ll need two separate wallets:
- One BTC-supported wallet to initiate the stake
- One BABY-supported wallet to receive rewards
You can find the full list of supported wallets (both browser extensions and mobile apps) in Babylon’s official documentation.
For convenience, here are a few examples:
- BTC wallets: OKX, Bitget, Tomo, Keystone
- BABY wallets: Leap, Keplr, Cosmostation
Please note: Before staking BTC, make sure your setup follows these rules to avoid transaction errors or permanent loss of funds:
- No Inscriptions: Do not use wallets containing Bitcoin ordinals, NFTs, Runes, or any other inscriptions. The interface may not detect all of them, and staking with such wallets can result in permanent loss of these assets.
- Hardware Wallet Limitations: Most hardware wallets are not supported for Bitcoin staking. The only exceptions are:
- Keystone (via QR code only)
- OneKey – Chrome extension or one of the following hardware devices:
- OneKey Pro
- OneKey Classic 1s (Taproot only, experimental support, firmware 3.10.1+)
- Address Format: Use either Native SegWit or Taproot addresses. Legacy formats are not supported.
Using unsupported hardware wallets (e.g., Ledger or Trezor) can make your stake unrecoverable.
