Step-by-Step Guide to Delegating BGT
LAST WORDS

BGT is your gateway to participating in the Berachain ecosystem. This guide is here to show you how to put your BGT tokens to work. You’ll learn how to delegate your tokens step-by-step, and in the end, you’ll be supporting blockchain and getting rewards along the way.

What is Berachain

Berachain is an EVM-Identical Layer-1 (L1) blockchain, which means it can host the same applications as Ethereum. Berachain is built with Proof-of-Liquidity (PoL), a consensus mechanism that leverages the increased liquidity deployed by users to secure the network and generate rewards.

Designed to support decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, Berachain enables seamless liquidity provisioning, governance, and reward generation through native assets like BERA, BGT, and HONEY. Its infrastructure ensures sustainable tokenomics while providing high utility for liquidity providers and users.

What is BGT and Why Should You Delegate It?

BGT (Bera Governance Token) is the governance token of the Berachain network. It empowers its holders to participate in decision-making processes and get additional rewards by delegating the token to network validators. Delegating BGT helps secure the network and enables holders to get rewards while supporting decentralized governance.

High-Level Overview of the BGT Farming

  1. Perform a BGT-generating action (such as providing liquidity into the BGT-eligible pool). This will generate a receipt token, which you’ll need to stake to become eligible for BGT rewards.
  2. Stake the receipt token in the Reward Vault. The receipt token is staked in the Reward Vault, making the Liquidity Provider eligible to receive BGT tokens based on their contribution.
  3. Claim BGT Rewards. The Liquidity Provider can claim accumulated BGT.
  4. Delegate BGT. Once claimed, BGT holders can delegate their tokens to an Active Validator to get further rewards and support the network’s security.

In this guide, we will show how to delegate $BGT to a validator in case you already have BGT farmed.

Step-by-Step Guide to Delegating BGT

If you’ve already farmed BGT and are ready to delegate it, follow these steps.

STEP 1: ACCESS THE DELEGATION INTERFACE ON BGT STATION

Navigate to the Delegate tab on the BGT Station and click Select Validator.

STEP 2: CHOOSE YOUR VALIDATOR

Select Everstake as your preferred validator to ensure reliable performance and secure operations.

STEP 3: SPECIFY DELEGATION AMOUNT

Enter the amount of BGT you wish to delegate and click Queue Boost.

STEP 4: ACTIVATE YOUR DELEGATION

After ~8191 blocks (approximately five hours, depending on block time), you must manually activate your delegation. Set a reminder to revisit the platform at this time.

Once the delegation is ready for confirmation, go to the Delegation Queue section and click Confirm to finalize your delegation.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully delegated your BGT and are now contributing to the Berachain ecosystem while getting rewards.

LAST WORDS

Delegating your BGT tokens is as easy as it gets! Not only are you getting rewards, but you’re also contributing to the growth of Berachain’s ecosystem. Take the leap today and make the most of your tokens — it’s a win-win.
