Cosmos operates as a network of scalable, interconnected blockchains built on the Cosmos SDK framework. At its core lies the Cosmos Hub, powered by its native token, ATOM. The project’s popularity is on the rise thanks to its low fees and swift transaction capabilities. Additionally, ATOM holders can passively stake their tokens, thereby earning rewards. This guide will provide a step-by-step walkthrough of staking ATOM using one of the most widely used wallets across Web3—Exodus.
WHAT IS THE COSMOS HUB BLOCKCHAIN?
The Cosmos Hub is the central chain within the Cosmos Network, facilitating seamless interchain connections among Cosmos-based blockchains through the Inter-Blockchain Protocol (IBC). As a trendsetter for other chains, Cosmos Hub’s development trajectory is closely watched and often inherited by other Cosmos-based chains.

Thanks to its built-in exchange, the application facilitates seamless swaps among various assets.
Compatible with various devices and operating systems, Exodus supports iOS and Android for mobile devices, while desktop software is accessible on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Additionally, it offers browser support, including extensions for Chrome and Brave.
How to top up your Exodus Wallet
Funding your Exodus Wallet is pretty simple. You can purchase cryptocurrencies directly with a debit card or utilize platforms like Ramp, MoonPay, or Sardine inside the wallet.
To get started, navigate to the Buy & Sell section within the Exodus Wallet, select your preferred platform, and follow the instructions to complete your purchase. Alternatively, you can transfer cryptocurrencies such as ATOM from other wallets or exchanges into your Exodus Wallet. You can find a comprehensive list of exchanges where ATOM is listed.
How to create a wallet
Exodus is a simple and convenient multicurrency wallet that supports more than 115 different crypto assets. The wallet has the functions of a built-in exchange and application (dApps). Download the wallet program from the official Exodus website and run the installation wizard. The program will be installed automatically within a minute after launch. There is also a mobile version of the crypto wallet for iOS and Android.
Now run the wallet file on your desktop. Your wallet will already be created — you don’t need to do anything. On the main screen, you can track detailed statistics on your assets.
We recommend that you immediately make a backup copy of your wallet so that you can restore your wallet in case of file system damage, loss or theft of your PC, or other troubles. If you want to skip this step, for now, go straight to the “How to top up the wallet” section.
1. To create a backup, go to the “Settings” section and select the “Backup” tab. Then create and enter a complex password, then click “Next”. Confirm the password you entered.
2. Write down a seed phrase consisting of 12 words while maintaining the sequence. For security reasons, the Exodus wallet displays words individually only when you hover the cursor over them.
3. Now confirm that you have correctly recorded the phrase of recovery, following the instructions of the wallet.
4. Backup is complete. Write down on paper your seed phrase and keep it safe.
Now you can add Cosmos tokens to your wallet.
