Injective is a blockchain focused on providing a robust framework for building next-gen DeFi products. An MEV-resistant on-chain order book, cross-chain bridging infrastructure, and compatibility with IBC-enabled blockchains, Ethereum, and non-EVM chains such as Solana, make Injective highly interoperable and attractive for both developers and users. Learn more about Injective in our overview.
The Injective native token, INJ, is used for gas fees, governance participation, incentivizing developers building on Injective, and securing the network through staking. This guide will explain how to stake INJ using the Keplr Wallet.
We will cover the following:

Why Stake INJ?
Injective leverages a Tendermint-based Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, which means everyone can contribute to the security and decentralization of the network by delegating the native tokens to one of the validators while also earning staking rewards.
What is the Keplr Wallet?
Keplr is an open-source non-custodial IBC-enabled wallet for the Cosmos Interchain ecosystem providing access to 40+ blockchains. The wallet is available as a browser extension, web dashboard, and mobile app and opens up a wide range of possibilities for its users, such as multichain assets management, IBC transfers, on-chain governance participation, fiat-to-crypto solutions, staking and managing your delegations, and more.
How to Stake INJ via the Keplr Extension?
Install Keplr extension
Download the extension on your preferred web browser.
Click Add to Chrome → Add extension.
You can pin the Keplr extension in the Tools menu for quick access.
After installing the Keplr wallet extension, you will be asked to create a new wallet or restore an existing one. Keplr offers various options to access the wallet: via hardware wallet, recovery phrase, private key, or with Google. For this guide, we will create a brand-new wallet. To do so, click on the “Create a new wallet” button.
Select the way you want to create your wallet. For this guide, we will create a wallet using a new recovery phrase.
Сarefully read the security tips, and click on the “I understood. Show my phrase” button.
Back up your 12- or 24-word recovery phrase for accessing the wallet. It’s crucial to save the mnemonic in a secure way, as this is the only way to access and restore your wallet. To properly safeguard your recovery phrase, it’s recommended that you write it down and store it in a secure location that’s accessible only to you. You may also use a specialized device designed for seed phrase storage. Make multiple copies of the phrase to minimize the risk of loss or damage.
Avoid taking screenshots or copying the mnemonic to the clipboard as this puts it at risk of being compromised. Never share your mnemonic seed with anyone.
After backing up your recovery phrase, click Next.
Verify your recovery phrase, give your wallet a name, create a strong password, and click Next.
Your wallet has been successfully created. Now, you can select Injective from the dropdown menu and click Save.
Top up your Keplr Wallet
In the Keplr Extension, click on the ‘Deposit’ button to copy your Injective wallet address or scan the QR code and send your INJ tokens to the Keplr Wallet.
Stake INJ via the Keplr Extension
Now that you have INJ in your wallet, we can move on to staking. Click the ‘Staked’ button and then ‘Stake with Keplr Dashboard’ to go to the Keplr dashboard.
Select injective from the list of available assets.
Select the validator to which you want to delegate your INJ tokens and click on it.
Enter the amount you want to delegate and click the Stake button. Make sure to leave a small amount of INJ tokens for future payments for transaction fees.
Approve the transaction.
You’ll see your delegation in the ‘Staking’ section.
In the same ‘Staking’ section, you can redelegate your tokens to another validator or unstake the funds. Bear in mind that the unstaking period is 21 days.
To claim your staking rewards, click the Claim button and approve the transaction.
How to Stake INJ in the Keplr Mobile
Download Keplr Mobile App
You can download a Keplr mobile app if you prefer to work on your phone.
Once downloaded, you can either create a new wallet or import an existing one. Let’s import a wallet we’ve just created via the Keplr extension.
You can do it either by clicking Import existing wallet (and entering the mnemonic seed) or by clicking the ‘Import from Keplr extension’ button. Moving on with the latter option.
To continue, you need to go to the Settings section on your Keplr extension → ‘General’ → ‘Link Keplr Mobile’ → enter your password → scan the QR code on Keplr Mobile.
Click Next on your mobile app and scan the QR code.
Enter the password to continue, and you’re all set!
