Staking in Starknet implies locking the native token STRK into the network’s staking protocol, which ensures its security and high performance. Users who prefer not to run a full node, which comes with certain requirements like the need to stake at least 20,000 STRK, can delegate their tokens to validators, such as Everstake.

This guide offers a comprehensive walkthrough of the entire staking process for STRK via Staking Rewards’ staking app, from bridging the tokens from Ethereum to claiming your rewards and more.

How to Bridge STRK from Ethereum

The staking app by Staking Rewards makes the process of staking STRK fairly simple and intuitive.

Step 1

If you do not have STRK on the Starknet staking mainnet yet, start here. Otherwise, you can skip straight to Step 4.

Go to the Staking Rewards’ official website and access its Stake app. Once there, go to the Ethereum tab.

Step 2

Hit the Connect Wallet button to connect your Ethereum and Starknet wallets.

To begin, hit Get Started.

You need to connect your Ethereum wallet first: to do so, select your wallet from the list. Note that Ledger signing is available for all browser extension wallets but not for Ledger Live.

Similarly, select your Starknet wallet. You can use either Braavos or Argent for those purposes if you don’t have one yet. Be sure to set them up following the respective on-screen instructions. Be sure to heed security recommendations, such as activating 2FA and keeping the seed phrase in a place that only you can access.

Step 3

Now, you will have to specify how much STRK you want to bridge from Ethereum to Starknet.

Once you do that, hit Bridge and Stake.

Finally, confirm the transaction in your Ethereum wallet. Note that the bridging process can take a few minutes to complete (usually about three or less).

Step 4

Now, you can stake your STRK on the Starknet mainnet. To do that, go to the Stake tab on the left-hand side of the menu, where you will be offered a list of Starknet providers (validators) to whom you can delegate your STRK. Choose Everstake to stake with us.

Now, specify how much you would like to stake. Hit Continue to Stake and confirm the transaction in your Starknet wallet. Note that its processing will take a little while.

Congratulations! You have now successfully staked STRK on the Starknet staking mainnet.

Step 5

You can view the status of your stake by hitting Go to Optimize in the pop-up menu. You will be able to check it in the Staking Terminal any time later.

How to Claim Your Rewards

Go to the Staking Terminal to ensure you have rewards to claim. If you do, follow the steps below.

Step 1

In the Staking Terminal, hit Claim All.

Step 2

On the next screen, hit Claim All Rewards and confirm the transaction.

Step 3

You will be able to see your rewards in the Available Balance afterward.

How to Stake Your Rewards

If you want to add your rewards to your original stake, follow the steps below.

Step 1

You will be prompted to stake your claimed rewards. Choose the provider to stake them with (e.g., Everstake), hit Stake, and confirm the transaction in your Starknet wallet.

Step 2

You will be able to see your stake in the Staking Terminal or on Starkscan.

How Unstake and Withdraw STRK

If you want to unstake and withdraw your STRK tokens, follow these steps.

Step 1

In the Staking Terminal, hit the three-dots icon next to the position you wish to unstake and select Unstake from the dropdown menu.

Step 2

You can go all-out, as automatically suggested, or select a lesser amount if you wish. Note that there is a 21-day waiting period until the tokens are fully available.

Step 3

Confirm the transaction, and you’re done! Now, you can see your unstaked tokens in the Staking Terminal.

Step 4

The unstaked tokens can be viewed in the Unstaking tab of the terminal. Once the 21-day waiting period elapses, you will be able to withdraw your tokens by hitting Withdraw (or stake them again if you change your mind).
