Conclusion

EigenLayer is an Ethereum middleware protocol that introduced the concept of restaking, a mechanic enabling the use of staked ETH in multiple networks and protocols simultaneously. Combined with the increased security for protocols and additional yields for stakers, this sparked widespread interest in EigenLayer and restaking in general.

EigenLayer enables users to restake Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs) and staked ETH with operators for Actively Validated Services (AVSs), which means they can earn multiple rewards in addition to the rewards they get for staking ETH in the first place.

This guide specifically focuses on the undelegation and unstaking of Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs). You can find guides on how to restake and delegate LST via the link.

How to undelegate LSTs?

To unstake your restaked and delegated tokens, you need to first undelegate them and then proceed with the unstaking process.

  • Visit the Operator page and select the operator you are currently delegating to. Click Undelegate.

  • Confirm the two transactions in your Web3 wallet.
  • Note that your delegated balance changes back to a restaked balance.

How to unstake LSTs?

  • Once undelegated, navigate to the Restake page. Select the token you have undelegated.
  • Go to the Unstake tab, enter the amount you wish to unstake and click Unstake.
  • Click Confirm when prompted by your wallet. Once the transaction is confirmed, your Restaked balance will become 0 and move to Unstaking.

  • Your withdrawal is now in escrow. Please wait for the escrow period to conclude before proceeding.
  • The withdrawal (escrow) period for LST tokens unstaked from EigenLayer is 7 days.

  • Once the escrow is completed, the balance available for withdrawal will appear under Unstaked. Click Withdraw to finalize the process.
  • Once the transaction is successful, you’ll see a pop-up message in the lower right corner of the screen confirming the withdrawal was successful.

Conclusion

Restaking and delegation open up new opportunities for both regular users and crypto projects. As restaking is a relatively new concept, more Actively Validated Services (AVS) are expected to join soon. The community’s interest in restaking suggests that the options will expand quickly, and Everstake is committed to supporting the best of them.

EigenLayer currently offers restaking for 12 LSTs, and Everstake oversees delegation in each. Learn more about these LSTs, including dedicated how-to guides, via this link.
