faq
What is Osmosis?
+Osmosis is a proof-of-stake blockchain that serves as an automated market maker (AMM) protocol for the Cosmos ecosystem.
Osmosis utilizes Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) to enable cross-chain transactions and allow users to provide liquidity in pools and swap the native tokens of others that use the Tendermint IBC. Osmosis serves as the liquidity gateway into the Cosmos ecosystem by enabling IBC deposits and withdrawals from one simple interface.
What innovation does it offer over existing AMMs?
+Osmosis is a cross-chain AMM that supports multiple assets in a pool and custom weights. Every parameter in Osmosis is customizable.
What is an AMM?
+Automated market makers (AMMs) are decentralized finance protocols that allow for the swapping of assets without a centralized intermediary. Smart contracts replace trading desks and order books in "making the market."
Trades are executed using assets from liquidity pools. Users create pools for specific tokens and deposit assets into them. Users who supply assets to a pool are called liquidity providers (LPs).
AMM pools are permissionless, meaning a user can make a pool for any asset. In Osmosis, pool creators are able to customize the transaction fees and exit fees paid by liquidity providers when withdrawing assets from the pool
What is OSMO token?
+The OSMO token is a governance token used for voting on protocol upgrades, alocating liquidity mining rewards for liquidity pools, setting the base network swap fee and securing the network through staking.
How long does it take for staked OSMO to unbond?
+14 days.
Is there a minimum staking amount?
+There is no minimum amount for staking, but remember to always leave some tokens unstaked to pay for future transactions.
What happens to the ownership of OSMO after they’re delegated?
+You are not giving away ownership of OSMO by delegating. As a validator, Everstake will never have the ability to move your OSMO.
What are the risks of delegating on Osmosis?
+Osmosis penalizes any validator that misses too many blocks or double signs a block by slashing the staked amount on that validator. Delegators must be aware that this slashing risk will always exist. Everstake is a reliable validator with a team of professional DevOps, by staking with us you can have no worries about your tokens.
